This page is dedicated to Colorado’s new law on N0n-Tenure Track Teaching Contracts. This is House Bill 1144, which was signed into law by Governor Hickenlooper on April 12, 2012.
Two documents follow. One is the Colorado Conference’s “Statement of Position” on Non-Tenure Track Teaching Faculty. The other is some “Frequently Asked Questions” about the new state law.
The law only pertains to faculty teaching at the state’s public institutions, including Community Colleges. Private institutions can offer any contracts they want, and they are covered by the National Labor Relations Act.
