CSU-Pueblo AAUP Chapter Presents Proposal for Handling Budget Troubles

January 18, 2014

T-WolfThe AAUP chapter at Colorado State University, Pueblo has made some specific proposals for handling the budget troubles  and impending job cuts on that campus. Yesterday’s Denver Post published a story featuring some comments critical of the CSU-Pueblo administration by Tim McGettigan, Professor of Sociology. Today we learned that Professor McGettigan has had his campus email account deactivated.

The chapter’s proposals are posted below and also on the Documents page of this website.

The University’s email violation policy does need to be reviewed and significantly changed to reflect electronic freedom of speech rights. CSU’s own email violations policy is in violation of these rights. Under their email policies the Chancellor’s email to CSU-P’s president Di Marie, ordering the cuts, certainly qualifies as “harassment,” doesn’t it? Imagine the “intimidation” that many faculty, staff, and students experienced when they were finally informed of the coming cuts. Then, further imagine the “threat” felt by those who will be notified by email that they are canned. Wow! talk about harassment!
