Will Online Education Make Professors Obsolete?

Jonathan Rees

Colorado State University history professor and AAUP-Colorado’s Vice President for Administrative Matters Jonathan Rees tackles the question in yesterday’s edition of Inside Higher Education. Jonathan suggests that faculty need to understand developments in educational technology–its strengthens and weaknesses–for the sake of our students and perhaps our own jobs.  Following developments in educational technology and the evolution of “massive online open courses” (MOOCs) can, as Jonathan notes, be “thoroughly exhausting.” Fortunately Jonathan is willing to help us do it (among other things) at his blog More or Less Bunk.
